GIC Appointment has Arrived – April 11th 2014
It’s been a while since I posted anything. So what have I been doing in that time, the majority of it was spent trying to get myself referred to the Laurels in Exeter, after finding out the new appointment waiting times at Charing Cross ranged from 8 to 12 months, which would mean for me not getting my first appointment with them until at least the end of this year beginning of next and then all future appointments are at least 6 months apart.
So that would mean by the time I had everything done it would be 2016 at least and to be honest I wasn’t having none of that after already waiting 3 1/2 years as it is. So my first stop was my GP to see if he could directly refer, which I knew was a long shot but I tried anyway.
While that was happening I sent an email to the Welsh Health Specialised Services Committee (WHSSC) detailing my wait to date, also mentioning about Charing Cross being behind on new appointments due to funding running out and the backlog from last April to get through. I also mentioned that if they didn’t do something about it I would have no choice but to put in a complaint.
A couple of months later, sending emails and ringing various people up I have my first appointment at the Laurels in Exeter for the 13th May 2014.
