25th February 2015 – Therapist Appointment

I should have seen my therapist at the Laurels back in December but because there had been a huge balls up with my funding I couldn’t continue my treatment with them so all future appointments were cancelled. But after winning the complaint I put in, they sent me out a new appointment for the beginning of February but I had to cancel it as the garage didn’t fix the car in time. Luckily enough my therapist re-booked it for the day before my Dr’s appointment.

I hadn’t realised it had been nearly 6 months since I last saw her. She asked me how I was doing and what I had been up to. I told her what the clinical manager was going to do for me with regards to hormone treatment and she asked if that happened and I laughed and said no, so I explained about my lipid levels, and that I really haven’t had the best luck at all. I also told her that I have a job in the pipeline to be a vehicle recovery driver, but I have to sort out my CPC first. Short and sweet really but still managed to natter for an hour.

We stayed at a lovely place called the Fisherman’s Cot, Tiverton which is about half hours drive from the Laurels. I would definitely recommend it if you where looking for somewhere to stay if you have your appointments together. Its £53 a night which includes breakfast but well worth the money.

26th February 2015 – Doctors Appointment

My Dr’s appointment went really well too. I wasn’t expecting to see her until I had been to see the lipid specialist and once that was all sorted and then I would have my bloods done to check my levels and when they were back in the normal range, ring up and get a new appointment booked.

Apparently what happens is the admin would have seen my last appointment with the Dr was 6 months ago and automatically send out an appointment. The Dr’s appointment went really well too, she asked me if I had changed my mind and that this was still what I wanted to do.

We put a plan into place where by another appointment would be made for 4 months time, in that time I should have seen the lipid specialist who can put me on medication, have a new blood test done and if my levels are back within the normal range, let her know and she will send a letter to my Gp and start me on the Gel. If I haven’t managed to see the specialist in the allotted time to ring and push my appointment back.

As for being put on the gel instead of Nebido, is they recommend people with health problems start on the gel, as it stops working after a couple of days, so if there was any problems l could stop using it. If I was to take Nebido instead and there was a problem I can’t stop it because it would already be in my system. She will keep an eye on me for 6 months and as long as there are no side effects then she will switch me from the gel to Nebido.
